The architecture was a mix of the old, the new, and the decrepit.  There didn't seem to be much to do in Chiclayo, and I didn't meet any other travelers, so after one day I was ready to move on.  I decided to head inland after hearing great things about the central Andes and bought an overnight bus ticket to Chachapoyas.  Ecuador will have to wait for another trip.
